June 29, 2016 -- Prior to the official dinner, guests at the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Nativity of His Majesty were given a private audience in a chamber with His Majesty.

His Majesty is briefed by an adviser before the guests receive entry into the private chamber.

His Majesty greets Ian Paisley, MP.


His Majesty begins the procession into the dining room.


 A wonderful surprise was the arrival of a talented opera singer, who performed several great classics.


His Majesty leads the Loyal Toast to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Long may she reign!!

H.R.H. Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia/Serbia, the grand-niece of H.R.H. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, leads a toast to His Majesty.

The Most Hon. Marquess of Reading relays greetings from H.R.H. Prince Michael of Kent, who was originally scheduled to come to the dinner.

Ian Paisley, MP, engages the audience.

The Lady Olga Maitland gives remarks about her previous visits to Rwanda.

A representative for H.I.H. Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie of Ethiopia, grandson of H.I.M. Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, presents His Majesty the bestowal of the Ethiopian title of Ras.  This is the first time that this title has been formally granted by Prince Ermias, in his authority as the President of the Imperial Crown Council of Ethiopia, since the monarchy ended in Ethiopia.
