The Royal Trip to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - June 29 Part III

June 29, 2016 -- The next award was given by a representative of H.R.H. Dom Duarte, Duke of Braganza, who presented His Majesty with the Order of Merit of the Royal House of Portugal at the rank of Grand Collar.

His Majesty is honored and touched by the continued kindness of the Royal House of Portugal.

H.R.H. Prince Nugzar Bagrationi-Gruzinski and his daughter, H.R.H. Princess Anna, stand and are recognized for the grant of the Order of Saint King David the Psalmist, the same Order officially received by H.A.H. BARTHOLOMEW I, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople in the Orthodox Christian faith, to His Majesty.

Next in the program was awards granted by His Majesty.  The representative for H.R.H. Prince Michael of Kent receives a giclée of an unpublished photo from when His Majesty reigned.

A hand-made gentleman's cane, topped with a silver Rwandan crown, was also a gift for H.R.H. Prince Michael of Kent.

For H.R.H. Princess Michael of Kent, a silver necklace comprised of hundreds of separate links that are assembled, using a technique described in the Bible, into a single piece of art.  The amethyst was also hand-cut by His Majesty's jeweler, Carl Lemke.

H.R.H. Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia/Serbia receives the Royal Order of the Crown at the rank of Grand Cross.

His Eminence Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh, whose diocese includes the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, receives the Grand Cross in the Order of the Crown.

Earlier in the day, H.R.H. Prince Nugzar Bagrationi-Gruzinski received the Grand Collar in the Royal Order of the Drum of Rwanda, and his daughter, H.R.H. Princess Anna, received the Grand Cross in the Royal Order of the Crown of Rwanda, as she already had received the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the Drum during her marriage to H.R.H. Prince David Bagration-Moukhrani.

It was an exceptional day to celebrate His Majesty's 80th anniversary of his nativity that will be long remembered by all attending.
