July 28, 2019 -- Commissioned in 2014 by the late King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa (1936-2016), Umwami is His official biography, as well as a history of His dynasty, and of his nation, between the years 1896 and 2016. This new and expanded edition includes a foreword by the present King of Rwanda, H.M. Yuhi VI Bushayija, nephew and successor of the late Mwami, and also features eyewitness accounts of the first German visitors to Rwanda in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as scores of contemporary photographs and other illustrations of the period. It has been released today to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the accession to the throne by the late King, which took place on 28 July 1959, at Mwima Hill.
